Lou Lambert, Voice of Bonku

Lou Lambert has been producing, voicing and writing professionally for more than 25 years and just when it starts to piss him off, just thinking about what he could have been (possibly taking the Civil Service Exam) "Eureka" another project comes through the door, like a box of chocolates.

Suffice to say, if 25 years+ has taught him anything, it's not knowing when to give up! 36 Addy Awards, 11 Telly Awards and a Radio Mercury award grace his office shared with his wife and partner, Neita (the brains of the operation). There use to be more statuettes but he got tired of pawning watches.

1. How did you get involved with the development of Forgotton Anne?

Over the past 15 months I’ve had the pleasure of narrating 15 audio books for Amazon, as well as 9 segments for “The merciful Servant” 9-part YouTube series. In addition, a 17- part series for radio’s “Amazing Facts” along with the everyday stuff like voicing commercials, documentaries, trailers, and learning-projects.

With regards to Forgotton Anne I was contacted by Alfred Nguyen, the CEO & Creative director for Throughline Games. His team went searching through various online sites, going through a lot of demos and decided to make the initial contact with me. After talking about the project, we came to terms and started a rewarding relationship over the past 15 months. From that point on, I was hooked. I was hooked on the character of Master Bonku.

2. Can you tell us a bit about the characters you are playing in Forgotton Anne, and how you approached the roles?

I play the role of Master Bonku who is the elderly, somewhat fatherly patriarch of the Forgotings, who are trapped in an altered world of those things one collects in their youth and forgets about over time. He communicates with Anne through a magical two-way mirror through most of the game.

What Alfred wanted was a voice with wisdom and experience that held strength, but at the same time had a somewhat feeble tone. So, over the course of a year we communicated through Skype. Alfred and his team directed each session and we recorded all of my parts remotely.

3. What do you think of Forgotton Anne and the project?

I’d have to say, after being involved with this project and knowing all of what went into the exacting details and intricacies of this production, it’s a remarkable feat and a terrific example of what creativity and technology can accomplish when put in the right hands. From the compositing of the scenes, the motion and animating of the characters… not to mention, the musical scoring and sound track and the development with all of the characters, I’m in awe. And I think anyone who enjoys gaming, animation with a true movie-feel will have a very rewarding and challenging experience.

4. What's next for you?

Aside from the voice-acting business which I’m constantly auditioning, each and every day, I was recently awarded Best International Voiceover Performance for 2018 from The One Voice Conference held in London, UK. So, I’m still feeling a bit high from that. Through the rest of 2018, together with my wife and partner, write and produce political campaigns through our small ad agency.

5. If you were an object in the Forgotten Lands, what would you be?

That’s a hard one, I guess with all of the laundry I’ve done through the years I have to say a sock.
